I'm Leaving, On a Jetplane . . .
Today I headed out to Moreno Valley's March Air Force Base for the "Thunder Over the Empire" airshow. It is a long-running event here in SoCal, but its been a few years since I've been. So I joined Bryan, Ryan, Brad, Tom and Grandpa for a day of afterburning, G-pulling fun in the hazy sun. Enjoy my favorite shots.

As always, the static displays did not hold our attention as well as the planes in the air.
But who can resist staring an Abrams Tank in the face?

Or how about sneaking a peek at a mysterious F-117 Nighthawk? (backed up by the Thunderbirds)

I always like it when they have the warbirds out, 'cause you can see them up close, then later see them fly. Nothing like these P-51 Mustangs and B-25 to show how it used to be.

Once the planes get flying though, your eyes, ears, and in our case lenses (Tom, Brad and I) were trained on the sky. Our spines tingled with each roaring pass, simulated ordinance explosion, and tight maneuver.
One thing that never gets old is seeing the warbirds fly alongside modern aircraft, like with this F-15 Eagle.

The B-25 took off and flew strafing bomb runs amidst P-51s, Hellcats, and Bearcats flying in formation. Quite a sight to see the old "manual" planes still tearing it up.
